The Transplant Immunology Research Centre of Excellence (TIREX) at Koç University in Istanbul is seeking a cell biologist with extensive experience in cell & tissue culture
methodologies.
TIREX is funded by the European Union Horizon 2020 ERA Chair programme for five years and aims to foster interdisciplinary research in the field of Transplant Immunology by bridging the scientific activities of organ transplantation centers in Turkey with that of Europe and Middle East.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Designing and conducting experiments as a senior member of the “Experimental Studies Group” of TIREX.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Establishing and maintaining primary cell cultures, immortalized cell lines, pluripotent cell lines, co-cultures, organospheres, etc.
• Molecular manipulation (gene silencing, overexpression, mutagenesis, etc.) of cells
• Designing and conducting experiments to test hypotheses developed by TIREX members on appropriate cell culture models
• Authenticating new cell lines
• Organizing and conducting regular cleaning procedures of the equipment to minimize contamination risk
• Periodically monitoring cultures for contamination
• Transferring cell culture skills to other members of TIREX and (under)graduate students

REQUIREMENTS
• A PhD degree on cell biology or a related field in biological & life sciences (must)
• Demostrable extensive experience with various cell & tissue culture models (must), including immune cells (desirable)
• Fluency in English (must)
• International research experience (desirable)

BENEFITS
• Salary/Contract Information: Contract will be for three years with a competitive salary that is commensurate with experience of the applicant.
• The expected starting date is June 1, 2023.
